Albums of The Year # 51 Mike Polizze - Long Lost Solace Find

Mike Polizze, frontman of Philadelphia's Purling Hiss, has just released a solo album, Long Lost Solace Find that is quite distinct from the sound and fury bluster that band are renowned for.

Essentially this is a reflective and laidback affair with a set of folk-ish songs that foreground Polizze's introspective side to excellent effect.

Polizze has a definite resemblance to fellow Philadelphian Kurt Vile, (who contributes to the record), in terms of his delivery and sensibility. If this is Folk, its Slacker Folk in terms of its laconic modesty and simplicity. It's all winningly unpretentious.

These are not songs that are set to change the world, nor do they imagine that they are,. My attention wandered slightly on occasion, but nevertheless  Long Lost Solace Find proves a restful and likeable listen.
