Song(s) of the Day # 2,430 Desktop Alarm Clock

Neat album called Summer Plans from Denver based act Desktop Alarm Clock. Simplicity itself. A better adjusted Elliot Smith. A nicer Mark Kozelek.

This review on Janglepophub nails perfectly the records charms and antecedents. Young Marble Giants, Elliot, Broadcast, and The French are all somewhere in its DNA. The young Paul Simon may be too. He after, all set a lot of this ball of quiet introspection rolling, way back when. Homeward Bound. The last words on Summer Plans conveniently enough are 'I think I'll always be homesick.'

A cool set of well arranged songs that don't outstay their welcome. All in all a fine albums that's worthy of broader attention and recognition than it's likely to do. I always like records that make me feel like watching Juno. This is one.
