Frankie & the Witch Fingers are a Los Angeles band who sound like something The Strokes and The White Stripes might have done had they chosen to make a record together while in their pomp. Powered by the rocket fuel Proto Punk attitude and sound that first fuelled The Stooges and The MC5 way back in the late Sixties. Also some more Psychedelic flavours sprinkled into the mix stir up reminders of Blue Oyster Cult, Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly
There's absolutely nothing remotely original about their latest double album ZAM but there is something decidedly fresh going on here. Perhaps not one you'll want to listen to in its entirety but in short sharp bursts it seems guaranteed to energise.
