In his memoir Black Postcards, Dean Wareham identifies Talking Heads as an early formative influence:
'In their button-down shirts and straightlaced haircuts became my favourite band. They weren't trying to be rock stars, punks or the second coming of the Rolling Stones. David Byrne affected a shy, bug-eyed persona. His style of guitar playing was scratchy and angular - a far cry from the popular guitar heroes with their rock poses.'
