Well summer's here and the time is right for lying on the beach!' As Mick Jagger never sang. An absolutely terrific album called Paradise from Healing Potpourri which it would be fair to call a summer one.
It's no surprise at all when you delve into the details behind it. It's produced by Sean O'Hagen, a man who has contributed to so many wonderful records down the years, whether for Microdisney, High Llamas or Stereolab.
Simi Sohota is the man behind Healing Potpourri. He's from California as far as I can gather and that makes perfect sense. Fot Paradise sounds like nothing quite so much as one of those timeless Beach Boys, endless summer records remixed for modern ears. Like one of the records O'Hagen used to make with High Llamas.
A quite gorgeous album. One for summer as I said. Well it is summer, at least where I am and this record is going to make it a better one for me.
