One of the most interesting albums I chanced upon last year was Number One firringly the debut solo album from Carlyn Bezic who faces the world as Jane Inc. these days. It was a fascinating record. Bezic played for many years with U.S.Grls and you can tell. She has a similar tuned in approach to the modern world we live in, in a way few artists do these days. She knows how much of it is corporate artifice, surface sheen.
Judging by this, 2021, the song that goes before the album proper, which drops in a few weeks time, it should be another intriguing record. Very Eighties sounding. Prince, and the whole empire of music he established, Grace Jones, Heaven 17 and strangely the peculiar bass rumble of Queen's Radio Ga Ga came to mind here. But all the while strangely contemporary. The Eighties after all, very much brought us here,
