A new year, a new rundown. I've been doing these for a couple of years now and was thinking of stopping at 1982 as to my mind it was one of the best years for Pop Music ever, certainly in my experience. By Pop Music I mean music that actually got in the charts. Good music doesn't generally. The charts, and particularly the singles charts were just golden in 1982.
By chance I was in my last year at Secondary School then. Making one of the great transitions, from youth to earlymanhood. From NHS specs to gold-rimmed John Lennon ones. From being rather geeky and forgettable to becoming at least slightly noticeable.
Enough of me and back to 1982.And off we go. Starting with Haysi Fantayzee. They were utterly ludicrous but ideal Smash Hits fodder and Smash Hits was clearly the music related magazine / paper of that particular year. This is their biggest hit. It appears to be about John Wayne being well endowed.
