Austin, Texas duo Hovvdy, have hovered on my radar for a few years now. They're a pretty prolific prospect. True Love, their latest, being their fourth album since 2016.
Their sound doesn't particularly vary from record to record to be honest though there's an evident maturation process and broadening of the horizons of their songs since the early days.
True Love comes across, as they often do as a record that Red House Painters better natured cousins might have come up with. Song after song off glass half full folky contemplation.
It's a record that may not necessarily broaden their appeal but will certainly gladden the hearts of those who already cherish them. Another fine addition to their body of work.
