Thierry Muller a Parisian photographer and graphic designer was the brains behind this. An outfit called Ruth and a record called Polaroid / Roman / Photo which reputedly sold 50 copies on its release in 1985. With time its reputation grew and it was re-released on several occasions post 2000. Original copies can cost as much as £300 on e-bay.
All things considered it's probably more of a curiosity than a classic. Gallic Noir cool of course has and always will have eminent cachet amongst hipsters, but some of its production and effects are a bit parpy and of their time.
Still, there's plenty here you might want to add to playlists and that may make friends prick up their ears or dance to at parties. It's playful and sultry and certainly worth a listen.
