Song(s) of the Day # 2,480 Sunstack Jones

Sun dappled sound on the appropriately named Golden Repair, from the appropriately named Sunstack Jones. Music and sensibility predicated first and foremost on the American West Coast scene of the late Seventies in addition to Liverpool, Manchester and Wigan, (well The Verve) bands, from the Eighties and Nineties. Lacking in originality, but for those who treasure this legacy, there should be plenty to savour here.

I was minded of a more pleasant Oasis continually over the course of listening to Golden Repair. Never particularly like reminders of that particular band but Sunstack Jones do what they do very well. For the most part they favour the loose limbed, loping stride of Richard Ashcroft's gang and appropriately they've been produced by Nick McCabe and now Simon Jones from that band. Not a record I'll be going back to, as it never wanders into the unexpected or unprecedented, but one I imagine others might enjoy.
