Always find Orange Crush one of the most truly exhilarating songs on an utterly horrendous theme ever recorded. Focused on the Agent Orange napalm gas deployed by the US military in Vietnam it's a shocking indictment on their government policy of the time.
Still, it did lead to R.E.M. being on Top of the Pops. Actual Top of the Pops. I remember watching this in Norwich in my university days and not believing that 'my band' were on Top of the Pops at last. Good performance too. All wearing shades. Michael without a shirt and dancing around with his megaphone. The presenter at the end says something about 'orange crush being nice on a hot day. Wouldn't try it mate.'
