In the Eighties on the BBC there was a wonderful series called The Singing Detective by Dennis Potter. It was later adapted into a Hollywood movie. It was superb in many ways, not least for its fabulous period soundtrack of songs from the Thirties and Forties. I'll be running through its soundtrack over the next twenty days.
