Fifteen years ago The Strokes released this, their first EP in the UK through Rough Trade. It genuinely changed things. I can't describe my excitement on hearing title it for the first time. It distilled everything that had been great about the New York Punk scene into eleven minutes. The Velvets, Television, Blondie, The Ramones, the whole remarkable package of attitude, melody, drive and wit. I'd almost given up on hearing a new band that sounded like old bands but were still so deeply exciting. I seriously considered relocating to New York City as a result of this record. Oh and it still sounds great! Straight out of the posh garage!
