Song of the Day # 475 Les Troubadours Du Roi Badouin

The most beautiful piece of music. Stop for a moment and listen to this. Belgian missionary Father Guido Haazen leading a 45-strong Congolese children's choir. An African interpretation of a Catholic Mass and all the weirder and eerier for that  with its echoes of colonialism and power. Recorded in 1958. Later co-opted, incredibly in Lindsay Anderson's 1968 film If about British Public School rebellion. It's Fifty Eight minutes in here. I was directed to this by Jimmy Page and an old Mojo Magazine article.
